Oakwood Infant and Nursery School follows the admissions arrangements made by Derby City Council.  To apply for a school place for your child, either for Reception Year or an In-Year Transfer, please contact Derby City Council School Admissions:

School Applications (In Year and Reception 2026)

To submit an application for your child's place at our school, please contact Derby City Council School Admissions using the contact details shown above.

We are holding Open Events during the autumn term for parents who will be applying for a Reception place for their child to start in September 2026. These are taking place on the following dates:

• Tuesday 21 October 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm - new Reception Open Event
• Thursday 20 November 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm - new Reception Open Event
• Saturday 15 November 9:30 am - 11:30 am - EYFS Tours and Open Day (new Reception and Nursery)

Applications for 2026 Reception places open on 01 November 2025. 

The deadline to submit an application for September 2026 Reception will be 15 January 2026.

The National Offer Day for places will be 16 April 2026.

Nursery Applications (In Year and September 2025)

Oakwood Infant and Nursery School admits children to our Nursery the term after their third birthday.

We offer a choice of free 15 hour places at the start or end of the week or extended funded 30 hour places Monday-Friday, subject to eligibility.

We are now taking applications to join our Nursery in September 2026 and September 2027.

We also have a limited number of 15 hour places available to start this term.

Our main Nursery admissions are in September each year, however, we may be able to offer your child a place to start in either the January or April following their third birthday, subject to availability.

Alternatively, you can obtain more information and download a copy of our current Nursery Waiting List form from our 'Nursery' webpage under the 'Information for Parents' tab at the top of the school website.

In the event that applications for our Nursery exceed the total number of places available, the school follows the same admissions criteria as for Derby City Council primary school admission arrangements.
